I’m an equal opportunity gadget girl for every aspect of my life. It doesn’t have to be high tech to impress me. VidaDoo offered to send me some wine accessories to try out and I was very happy to accept.

What did they send? A wine pourer/aerator (Wine Pourer with Calabash Aerator) and a very clever electronic wine sealer (Intelligent Wine Sealer). What perfect timing too since we had just received a “welcome” bottle of wine from our new neighbor!

First thing we did was open the bottle (with a screw because everything was still packed) and pour the wine using the aerator. My husband in particular was very excited to try this out because he’s always heard how good it was for the wine. And he wasn’t disappointed, the wine was noticeably tastier using the aerator. An aerator introduces air to the wine before the pour and is supposed to reduce the undesirable compounds faster while bringing out the aroma and flavors of the wine. At $12.95, this is a great little gadget to try and perhaps buy more than one of!

I like wine but I tend to enjoy it one glass at a time, so to have a wine sealer that can keep my wine fresh is a must for me. My old sealer required a pumping action and I was never really sure how well it was sealing the bottle. With the Intelligent Wine Sealer, everything was automatic. I pushed the sealer onto the bottle and watched as it proceeded to vacuum seal the wine over the next 90 seconds, displaying a countdown on it’s LCD display. Not only that, the sealer displays bottle temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit and monitors the pressure in the bottle, automatically going through the vacuum process again when needed. Super smart!
