I’ve been MIA, I know. Things have not died down for us. Between work, house hunting, party planning, and life’s general insanity with 2 young boys, we are SO ready for vacation. I know many mamas can relate because I see countdowns all the time. I’ve been too busy to even really recognize how many days we have left…until I took a breath today and did the math. 18 days! EIGHTEEN DAYS!
My son’s 2nd birthday & party is this Saturday, so that’s also a relief. The planning is almost done. I am very excited for the next couple weeks. There’s a lot of fun to be had!
I struggle often with staying positive and having a good perspective on life. Especially the last 2 years, some pretty hard things have happened…but then some really great things have also happened. So I’m constantly trying to remind myself that difficulties can lead us to a better life. When one door closes, another opens, etc.
Anxiety is definitely an issue for me too, something that increased after having my second son. Reading what seems like a constant flow of bad news on Facebook. Experiencing what seemed like a constant flow of bad luck. It really made it hard for me to have a good attitude. And for a little while I wallowed. I complained. I was a complete downer. Until I just got sick of myself.
It takes daily reminders, sometimes more than once, to check my attitude towards life. Being with my boys, really being with them, helps a lot. They make me grateful for my life. I can actually SEE so much that makes me grateful. Not that I don’t still have my bad moments, but overall I think I’m really back to being a positive person. And I honestly believe it may be paying off. Not only with actual good things happening but with my ability to handle a negative situation.
I’m trying and that’s good. Back to enjoying the crazy and hope I can share some good news in the near future. Also, EIGHTEEN DAYS!
What do you do to stay positive? Do you believe a positive outlook on life can bring about great things?
