I’ve been waiting quite a while for my invite to be emailed to me from Zediva. I read about this new company in an article about streaming sources and the way they do things is unique.
Zediva actually has physical DVD players that play DVDs and streams the movie into your home. The upside (or downside depending on how you look at it) is that previews and extras are now accessible in an instant to you format. Don’t worry, there’s a setting in preferences to skip the previews!
I haven’t had a chance to try it out, but it looks promising. The few things I have an issue with are:
- No blu-ray. Their FAQs say they will be stocking them soon, but there is no definitive timeline.
- There are no dedicated devices. It’s all dependent on where you can bring up a browser and if your device has Adobe Flash.
There’s no current deal between Zediva and movie studios to prevent them from having the movies the day they’re released, so that’s already a plus over Netflix and Redbox. The price looks nice, with a current 10 for $10 promotion. But the two issues above keep me from trying them out.
How about you, will you give Zediva a try?

I personally plan on going with Blockbuster through my provider/employer DISH Network. They are offering Blockbuster free for 3 months which is an incredible deal. Blockbuster can offer you Blu-ray DVDs at no extra charge, games, and new releases 28 days before Netflix. That is the best part to me. I love watching my new releases and I always hated that about Netflix. Check out this link for the promotion http://bit.ly/iH7nwg . It’s the perfect time to switch.
