Jackery Giant Portable Charger Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Click here to read our full disclosure.

It’s a well known fact that smart phones can run out of juice quickly.  The more powerful the phone, the more battery power it uses.  Also, if your phone is constantly searching for a signal, it will use more power.  I’ve found being in a crowded location like a theme park or a stadium, my phone will quickly drain and I end up without it.

Jackery Giant boxFor my husband, the situation is even worse.  He’s almost always allowing his phone to die.  His excuse?  “I didn’t have a place to plug in my charger!”  My solution? A Jackery Giant for Christmas.

What is a Jackery Giant?  It’s a portable charger with not one, but 2 ports.  I actually decided on this size versus the Jackery Bar or the Jackery Fit because my husband could charge his tablet and phone at the same time or he could choose to use the higher output for a faster charge on his phone.  The Giant is said to keep it’s charge for up to 6 months (if it’s solely for emergencies, this is good to know!) and will provide over 500 full charges over it’s lifetime.  An added bonus is a dim flashlight on the pack that can be used in various situations, I know I appreciate that.

Jackery Giant portsPhysically, the pack is a little larger than a pack of cards and has a nice heft to it.  It’s not something women with small purses will want to take around but I don’t have a problem adding it to my huge purses (another weakness of mine).  If you’re worried about size, you can check out the Jackery Mini instead although that’s significantly weaker in capacity and output.  It’s very convenient still.

Jackery GiantYou actually charge the pack itself by plugging the micro usb end into it.  I charged it off my laptop overnight as soon as we opened the box.  It comes with it’s own USB 2.0 cable too.  Overall, we have been nothing but happy with the Jackery Giant.  It’s a simple, but powerful gadget that does what it’s supposed to.

Do you own a Jackery?  If not, are you considering one?  We’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below!
