Let me start this post with a quick story. While visiting my brother-in-law and his wife last fall, I noticed a really cute idea in their bathroom – a huge jar of matchbooks and boxes from everywhere they go. Then a couple of weeks later, I stumbled on this bottle from Terrain which I loved. But did I buy it? Nope. And now it’s no longer available online.

I really wanted one of these in my powder room, so I decided to DIY my own version. Here is what you need:
- 2 of these glass bottles with a cork (about $2.50 each from Hobby Lobby)
- 1 box of matches (I bought these)
- Scissors or paper cutter
- Super glue
Optional:
- This Silhouette Studio file I created + Silhouette Cameo (I left the “k” editable, find the font here)
- Black vinyl

The bottle was not perfectly straight so both bottles turned out a little crooked, but still cute. I would recommend cutting the design in strips so you can apply the vinyl straight.

Cut both strike strips from the cardboard box (I used a paper cutter for straight cuts) and then glue to the bottle.

These jars cost less than $12 to make and fill – a pretty good deal compared to the $20 inspiration bottle.
