Pun intended. What are your thoughts on this? An article from a newly favorite blog of mine, The Droid Guy, started me thinking. As a tech lover, I hate to see my beloved NOOKcolor cast as the villain in this story (yeah, ok, another pun). Did e-books have a role in Borders' demise? Sure they did. But I think it all started with Amazon and their super low prices plus fabulously free shipping on books. And then they introduced the Kindle which hurt the big brick & mortar stores even . . .
I know I've been talking about the NOOKcolor (a.k.a. NC) for a while now, but I wanted to make sure I really loved it before sharing my review. It is possibly the best $249 I have ever spent (besides my HTC EVO of course, and that was more at the time). The interface is very user friendly, I learned all the tricks within an hour of receiving my NOOKcolor as a Christmas gift. Let's start with registration. You know you're a geek when...you scream in excitement at the news of the new Google eBookstore! And when you Gchat your hubby with the link, he goes "Yeah, uh huh." Why is this exciting? Add that there's now competition for the Amazon eBookstore and the B&N NOOKbook store, there are a TON of apps for the Google eBookstore, AND Google eBooks are compatible (ePub, how I love thee) both with the Sony Reader (which I have) . . .
